Behind the scene, inside the story
For the official music video of Hey Satan, singer-songwriter and visual artist Joseph Arthur entered the atmospheric spaces of Castello di Ramazzano, near Perugia.
Directed by filmmaker David J. East, the production transformed the centuries-old castle and its surroundings into a cinematic world of stone, shadows, paintings, musicians and symbolic imagery.
Studiogusto was invited behind the scenes to document the making of the film through video and photography — capturing not only what happened in front of the camera, but everything that made those images possible.

A film within the film
Rather than simply recording the production, we approached the backstage as a story of its own.
Our cameras followed the crew through the different stages of the shoot: preparations, lighting, rehearsals, performances and the constant movement between one scene and the next.
The resulting behind-the-scenes film combines observation and atmosphere, staying close enough to capture the process without interrupting it, and turning the making of someone else’s film into a visual story with an identity of its own.

An extraordinary stage
Castello di Ramazzano, in the heart of Umbria, became much more than a location.
Its monumental rooms, underground spaces, textured walls and surrounding landscape created a visual environment where centuries of history met the controlled chaos of a contemporary film set.
The contrast became part of our own visual language: equipment against ancient stone, artificial light cutting through dark interiors, a production crew temporarily inhabiting spaces built for another time.
Stills from a moving set
Alongside the film, we created a photographic reportage of the production. The images move naturally between portraits, environmental photography and spontaneous moments from the set: Joseph Arthur, David East and the crew at work, but also equipment, spaces, gestures and details that reveal the scale and complexity behind the finished music video.
More than production stills, they form a parallel visual narrative, one made of concentration, waiting, movement and unexpected moments.
